The founder, Ivan Ashauer, grew up in the water in Laguna, CA. He skimboarded professionally from 1987 to 2007, dominating the competition scene.

The logo system is a modern take on Basque Country writing with its unique letterforms. The hexagon shapes found in the wave form are a nod to the innovative honeycomb material used to make the boards. Additionally, we drew inspiration from hand-carved block printing and ancient stone that reflects Lagunitian's hand-crafted boards.
